Good lot of four items signed by prominent World War II American generals. Included is: ALEXANDER VANDEGRIFT (1887-1973), Marine Corps general and Commandant, led the 1st Marine Division at Guadalcanal and was awarded the Medal of Honor, an A.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Lynchburg, Dec. 15, 1950 offering to sign a copy of 'The Marines War'; CARL A. SPAATZ (1891-1974), American general who initiated daylight bombing raids over Germany and oversaw the dropping of the atomic bomb, T.L.S. on Air Force letterhead, 1p. 4to., Feb. 28, 1946 sending copies of '...the Three Reports of the Commanding General of the Army Air Forces...' concerning the war; JAMES M. GAVIN (1907-1990), American general and commander of the 82nd Airborne at Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge, S.P., 8 x 10 in. b/w, in uniform, and JACOB L. DEVERS (1887-1979), American army general and commander of army forces in North Africa, also led the landings in southern France, S.P., 5 x 7 in. b/w, seated pose in uniform. Four pieces, very good.
