Description:

AMERICAN-CAPTURED NSKK HELMET WITH BRING-BACK PAPERS
An American-captured first pattern National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK) crash helmet constructed of smooth black leather with raised, padded, protective bars running horizontally around the helmet's bottom edge with another protective bar running from front to back over the crown top. The helmet has one ventilation grommet on each side. The peak of the helmet has a first pattern NSKK-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed, black-enameled mobile swastika. The helmet has a short blackened leather visor stitched to the front, as well as stitched brown leather side and rear fold-down panels. Each panel is fitted with a section of the chinstrap and a vertical half moon-shaped ear cut-out with stitched-on flap allowing for protection without compromising the wearer's hearing. The interior of the helmet has a tan-colored leather liner with seven fingers with string. Twice maker-marked by Josef Dort, Trier. Age-appropriate wear. This helmet was taken/captured by Cpl. Michael Tersillo from New York, and is sold with a color copy of Tersillo's March 29, 1945 bring-back papers mentioning the helmet which was removed by us from the very box Tersillo sent home from Europe.
