AMERICAN AVIATOR''S INSIGNIA AND LETTER GROUPING
Good grouping of items related to the service of 2nd Lt. Kennedy Boardman, Battery A, 135th Field Artillery. Included are two letters send home from France to his sister, 21pp. total, in part: "[Bourboule, Sep. 12, 1918]...I tried first to go to Paris but this was refused because it is defendu...we have a little dancing every evening...be beat it right off and began a little duet...I''ve remembered again how to laugh and hold a fork...I''ll be transported within four days en route for the front and all the barbarous practices of the war...Five days [on levae] in fourteen months in France...[Tours, Oct. 19, 1918]...volunteered for aviation...If I am O.K. I''ll begin the aerial observer''s course Monday. Will be flying in a week. I''d like to learn to fly as a pilot...Don''t any of you woory about my soon being a ''bird man''. It is not dangerous and you get no gas in that work when up Front...I''ll wear than nice half wing embroidery on my blouse! Wow...". With a Sep. 24, 1918 letter mentioing striking up a correspondence with a French lady. Also included: a postcard photo of Boardman with "wing" disc on his uniform collar; hat and aviator''s collar insignia; overseas service stripe; war medal with four campaign bars; ribbon bar; aviator''s field lighter, one-and-two sons in-service pins (one with broken pin, and unrelated Rickenbacker commemorative medal. Very good.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made.
