Description:

ALLGEMEINE SS-RZM PARADE HELMET
Excessively rare private purchase transitional Allgemeine-SS parade helmet, RZM/SS M18 style double decal with SS runic decal applied to right side, and the rarely seen white mobile swastika applied to the left. Both decals are covered in clear lacquer. Original black paint virtually entirely intact, as are the decals, which are absolutely original to the helmet. Although following an M18 helmet pattern, this is not a reworked WWI helmet, but rather a early Thirties copy made specifically for the SS, and made mainly for commercial purchase by members of the SS. As these were used primarily for guard duty and parade use, they are made from a lighter, slightly thinner steel, while the WWI style lugs show attachment with no washer to the interior. All are absolutely correct for this original format RZM helmet. Within, the helmet is deeply stamped with encircled SS runes on left side and RZM circle device on right. An Austrian style three-pad leather liner is unmarked, with six fingers cinched by drawstring, the leather fingers featuring steel grommets for the drawstring, although two have been ripped free of one leather pad. Liner is equipped with an M16 styled leather headband, and is held in place by special machine applied one piece rivets. Shows a paper RZM label affixed to the rear apron of the helmet, maker-marked 'ET' and appropriately worn. Chin strap, attached to swivel bales mounted to the liner with rivets, is likewise original, and black finished leather to the visual side, with raw leather underside, seemingly unmarked. This period correct chin strap, made for the RZM helmets, incorporates one spring clip to the free end for quick unstrapping, with a cinch buckle on the other end securing the strap to the helmet. One of the rarest helmets obtainable.
