Description:

A rare find, a white ceramic cream pitcher, approx. 1.75 x 2 in. dia., bearing the emblem of the German Red Cross ('Deutsches Rotes Kreuz') on one side, maker's stamped on bottom with the hallmark of Allach subsidiary, Bohemia in Neurolau, incorporating stylized SS runes within a 'B' for 'Bohemia'. Fine condition. The porcelain factory Porzellan Manufaktur Allach was established as a private concern in 1935. In 1936 the factory was acquired by Heinrich Himmler to produce works of art that would represent, in his eyes, true Germanic culture. Production was based at Allach, the largest subcamp of Dachau, and it used slave labor in the production of these pieces. The subsidiary 'Bohemia in Neurolau' garnered its labor from Neurohlau concentration camp - a largely female subcamp of Flossenburg concentration camp. Sold with a second cream pitcher, approx. 1.75 x 2 in. diameter, stamped on the bottom with the emblem of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront organization above the maker's mark 'Rosenthal'. Fine condition.
