(1896 - 1962) Soviet general, awarded the Order of Victory for his efforts in World War II. Antonov was Deputy Chief General Staff and Head of the Operations Directorate, a pivotal role within the Stavka. His duty was to liaise with other officers and inform Stalin of the military situation. Good content D.S. as Deputy Chief of Staff, 1p. 4to., 1944, a document sent to Commissar of Foreign trade Borisov regarding a conscription in Iran and resulting tensions with the U.S. and Great Britain. In part: '...the Iranian government is holding another conscription...with people who have not previously received military training...According to the official diplomatic representatives of America and England...[this] can distract a significant number of workers employed in work carried out by the Allies...the USSR Charge d'Affiares in Iran believes that the Allies have no reason to oppose the Iranian Government in replenishing their army...with regard to persons employed by the Allies, I can ask the Iranian government to grant a deferral...' Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
