War date A.L.S. "Sterling MG" 1p. 4to., Saratoga, Nov. 1, 1781 to Major Nicholas Quackenbush, quartermaster at Albany requesting the latter to "immediately send to this place two good large Grindstones" explaining that "we cannot do without them therefore if they are in Albany they must be sent. Remember to send the writing paper &c by this Express if it is not Already sent. The additional tools wrote for Yesterday are also much wanted...". A few minor tape marks at margins, usual folds, otherwise very good. $400-600
