Description:

ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL
(1847 - 1922) American inventor of the telephone, formed the Bell Telephone Company, and established the Volta Laboratory which produced numerous related inventions and improvements on existing technology. Rare signed book, the pamphlet entitled Marriage: An Address to the Deaf published in 1898 by the Sanders Printing Office in Washington, D.C. The pamphlet is 18pp. long, 8vo., and contains a speech given by Bell to "the Members of the Literary Society of Kendall Green" in which Bell puts forth his theories, based on "the law of heredity", that have led him to conclude that restrictions in marriage practices among young deaf persons could decrease their handing down of their impairment to their children. Signed at top right cover: "Mr. Edwin A. Elsbach with the compliments of Alexander Graham Bell". Very good.
