Description:

(1905-1981) Nazi German architect and Minister of Armaments and War Production, convicted of war crimes at Nuremburg. Good content T.L.S. in German, 2pp. 4to., Heidelberg, Nov. 9, 1970, a friendly letter addressed to his Jewish-American acquaintance Paul Kahn - a German architect who once worked with the Kaiser, who was later thrown out of Germany by the Gestapo, then befriended Speer and exchanged letters. In part: '...On the possibility of having a best seller, one should not get too excited. One notices the list of books which deserve to be on the list. Much, much more pleased to learn that your American friends are reading my book...Eva Braun's diary has not yet been published in Germany. I saw a photocopy of the original and was impressed how lovelessly this woman was treated by her lover...' Signed at the conclusion. Light creases at the top edge, else very good. Interestingly, according to an earlier letter from Kahn to Speer (a photocopy of which is included with this lot), Kahn '...knew Eva Braun personally when she was working for the photographer Hofmann in Munich...' This lot was taken from a large grouping of correspondence between the two men, and comes with a scan of a letter from our consigner, providing some further details into Speer and Kahn's relationship.
