Description:

ALBERT FISH
HAMILTON HOWARD "ALBERT" FISH (1870 - 1936) American serial killer, a child rapist and cannibal, he boasted that he "had children in every state," and at one time put the figure at around 100 murdered and . However, it is not clear whether he was talking about rapes or cannibalization, less still as to whether he was telling the truth. Fish confessed to three murders that police were able to trace and to stabbing at least two other people. Psychiatrists described his life as one of "unparalleled perversity". At Fish's trial for the murder of Grace Budd, none of the jurors doubted that Fish was insane, but ultimately, as one later explained, they felt he should be executed anyway. They found him to be sane and guilty, and the judge ordered the death sentence. His last words were reportedly, "I don't even know why I'm here." Incredibly rare partly-printed D.S. "Albert Fish", 2pp. legal folio, [White Plains, N.Y.], Feb. 5, 1935. On a "Personal Verification" form supplied by his attorney James Dempsey in the case of "People of the State of New York, Complainant, against Albert H. Fish, Defendant". Fish swears that he is the defendant in the action, that he knows the contents thereof, and that except for allegations made against him, he believes the contents to be true. Chipped at the blank margins, else fine condition with a large, bold blue ink signature. Fish's signature is virtually unobtainable.
