ALAN BROOKE
(1883 - 1963) 1st Viscount Alanbrooke. Chief of the Imperial General Staff (CIGS) and promoted to field marshal in 1944. As chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee, Brooke was the foremost military adviser to Winston Churchill and had the role of coordinator of the British military efforts in the Allies' victory in 1945. Good pair of signed items, includes: A.D.S. on his personal correspondence card, Ferney Close, Aug. 26, 1957 to Ray Rawlins, cousin of Major Gen.Stuart Rawlins, a message of goodwill to delegates of the Swaziland Annual Ex-Gunners Reunion and Dinner at Mrabane. Sold with an A.L.S., also on his correspondence card and to Rawlins, one day earlier, sending the message and noting: '...I was devoted to your cousin Stuart Rawlins...' Very good. STUART RAWLINS (1897-1955) was a British major general of artillery who served with distinction from the D-Day landings, onward.
