In part: "...I take great pleasure inendorsing the recommendation of Mr. Wheelan for the officer of District attorneyfor the Southern District of Ala. I cordially adopt the terms in which he isrecommended by James Q. Smith...". Parsons (1817-1895) was an Alabamaattorney and state senator during the war. He became Alabama's nineteenthgovernor being appointed by Johnson on June 21, 1865 and served until Decemberof that year. Light soiling else very good. $150 - 200
