AFTER CAMPAIGN REPORT OF 3RD ARMY
A rare and massive volume, After Action Report Third US Army 1 August 1944 - 9 May 1945([Third Army, 1945]) 2 vols., oblong folio, with numerous maps and illustrations. Originally a "Secret" report (and later declassified), this is the complete guide to everything (and we mean everything) that occurred from the Third Army's arrival at Normandy in August, 1944 to the surrender of Germany in May 1945. The report details Patton's race across France, the closing of the Bulge, crossing the Siegfried Line and the final march into Germany. The volume includes numerous and very detailed reports troop levels and movements, supply logistics, casualties, material losses, aerial bombing statistics together with monthly reviews, personnel lists, reprints of army directives, tactical air command reports, planning and projected situation maps for Operation Overlord, signal plans, and much more. Volume 2 includes individual staff section reports including antiaircraft artillery, artillery, chaplain, "Chemical Warfare", engineer, finance, inspector general, quartermaster, signal, ordnance, special services and much more. Both volumes are illustrated with situation maps, black and white photos of soldiers in action as well as the liberation of concentration and P.O.W. camps. Ex. Army War College Library.
