A unique historic document (unsigned) sent by the Aero Club of America to John Hays Hammond Jr. (1888-1965) Famous American inventor with over 400 U.S. patents known as the 'father of radio control' who was close colleagues with other famous inventors of the day such as Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, and Nikola Tesla. The Aero Club of America was social club founded to promote the up and coming field of aviation, through things such as hosting air shows, and issuing pilots licenses; moreover the club would later turn into the National Aeronautic Association that still exists today. This document is 3pp. 4to., New York, May 7, 1919, and is one of the first fifty aviation insurance policies issued by the Aero Club which protected the individual holder to be 'insured through means aforesaid while in any vehicle or mechanical device for aerial navigation or in falling therefrom or there with, or while preparing or supervising the preparation of any such vehicle or device for operation, ascension or descension...' Small water stain on the back of the document, else fine.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
