(1889 - 1945) Fuhrer of Germany and Nazi Party leader, Hitler's bloody rise to power, his military seizure of most of Europe and North Africa and his genocidal racial policies culminated in suicide in his Berlin bunker as Russian troops approached. Typed D.S., 1p. large 4to., "Fuhrer Headquarters", June 30, 1940. Hitler promotes State Privy Councilor Professor Dr. Ferdinand Sauerbruch of the Berlin Military District to Oberfeldarzt z.V and Oberstarzt z.V. to serve as consultant surgeon on the staff of the Generalkommando III. Armeekorps. Also signed at bottom by WALTHER VON BRAUCHITSCH (1881-1948), Field Marshal and commander in chief who formally led the campaigns against Greece, France, Poland and the USSR. With blind embossed seal. Folds, else very fine and boldly signed. FERDINAND SAUERBRUCH (1875-1951) was the head of the surgical department at the Charité in Berlin, attaining international fame for his innovative operations and techniques for thoracic surgeries. However, he also supported "research projects" of the SS, including experiments on prisoners in the concentration camps. However, as head of the General Medicine Branch of the RRC, he personally approved the funds which financed experiments with mustard gas on prisoners at Natzweiler concentration camp from 1941 until 1944.
