Partly-printed D.S., 1p. large 4to., Berlin, June 25, 1935, a military appointment of General and department head in the Reich Ministry of War GUSTAV ANTON VON WIETERSHEIM (1884-1974), to Senior Quartermaster of the Army General Staff. Some adhesive staining on the verso, with some show-through at top, else very good. GUSTAV ANTON VON WIETERSHEIM was a German general during World War II who later led the XIV Motorized Corps from its creation in 1938 until 14 September 1942 during the Battle of Stalingrad. Having encountered exceptionally strong resistance and high casualties among his troops north of Stalingrad, he suggested a partial withdrawal to the Don. Deemed incompetent and defeatist, he was relieved of command by Friedrich Paulus and subsequently dismissed by Hitler.
