Description:

ADOLF HITLER
(1889 - 1945) Fuhrer of Germany and Nazi Party leader, Hitler's bloody rise to power, his military seizure of most of Europe and North Africa and his genocidal racial policies culminated in suicide in his Berlin bunker as Russian troops approached. Historically important partly-printed D.S., 1p. large 4to., Berlin, Dec. 6, 1935. In this important decree, Hitler appoints ERNST EISENLOHR (1882-1958) to serve as 'Envoy 1st Class in Prague in the Service of the Reich'. Co-signed at the bottom by CONSTANTIN VON NEURATH (1873-1956), Nazi diplomat and Hitler's advisor on foreign affairs. He later served as Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia. Sentenced to 15 years at Nuremberg. With blind-embossed seal at the bottom, very fine. ERNST EISENLOHR served as German envoy in Athens from 1931 to 1936 and in Prague from 1936, which position he is appointed to in this document. In this capacity he was involved in the destabilization of Czechoslovakia in preparation for its annexation. In a report on May 20, 1936, he denounced Thomas Mann, who 'now completely identifies with the goals of anti-German emigration.' These activities were part of the destabilization of the country that had been intensively carried out by the Nazi government in Berlin since 1937. He later denied that he had received an order from Berlin to demand that the Czech government expel the Sopade board. Eisenlohr was later replaced by Andor Hencke during the Sudeten crisis in 1938 and was called up to the Foreign Office, where he worked until 1943.
