(1889 - 1945) Fuhrer of Germany and Nazi Party leader, Hitler's bloody rise to power, his military seizure of most of Europe and North Africa and his genocidal racial policies culminated in suicide in his Berlin bunker as Russian troops approached. Fine content typed D.S., 1p. large 4to., "Fuhrer Headquarters", Apr. 22, 1940. In this unusual order, Hitler transfers Luftwaffe generals to new service with the army. Those reassigned are: HELMUTH VOLKMANN (1889-1940), appointed General of Infantry; OTTO VON STULPNAGEL (1878–1948), appointed General of Infantry, later military commander of occupied France and a suicide after his arrest; LEONHARD KAUPISCH (1878–1945), appointed General of Artillery, later Supreme Military Commander of occupied Denmark, died in captivity; EDMUND WACHENFELD (1878-1958), appointed General of Artillery; FRIEDRICH VON COCHENHAUSEN (1879-1946), appointed General of Artillery; and KARL VON ROQUES (1880-1949), appointed General of Infantry; commanded the Army Group Rear Area behind Army Group South, carried extermination policies against the Soviet partisans, Slavic and Jewish population. Hitler also promotes HERMANN NIEHOFF (1897–1980) to the rank of Generalleutnant. Niehoff would become the garrison commander of Fortress Breslau. Also signed at bottom by WALTHER VON BRAUTCHISCH (1881-1948), Field marshal and commander in chief who formally led the campaigns against Greece, France, Poland and the USSR. With blind embossed seal, very fine and boldly signed.
