Description:

ADOLF HITLER SENDS MESSAGE FROM THE BUNKER
(1889 - 1945) Fuhrer of Germany and Nazi Party leader, Hitler's bloody rise to power, his military seizure of most of Europe, Russia, and North Africa and his genocidal racial policies culminated in suicide in his Berlin bunker as Russian troops approached. Fine content rarely seen and very late T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Mar. 15, 1945. Typed on low quality paper showing a generic typed 'Der Fuhrer', 'Fuhrerheadquarters' letterhead, as only seen on documents coming out of the bunker in the final four months of Hitler's life, dictated, then signed by Hitler as he took refuge in the Fuhrer bunker beneath the Reich Chancellery in Berlin, shortly after his final visit to the front (Bad Freienwalde) on March 11, 1945, with the Russians only 60 kms from Berlin. Five days after this letter was written, Hitler would make his last public appearance, leaving the bunker one last time in the famous scene of his awarding Iron Crosses to the Hitlerjugend boys in the garden of the Chancellery. The letter reads in full: 'The Scandinavian Home Staff and the departments assigned to it are separated from the High Command of the Wehrmacht and placed under the command of the Naval War Command - Sea Transport Chief for the Wehrmacht. The Chief of the High Command of the Armed Forces issues the executive order in consultation with the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy'. Signed with Hitler's very cramped late war signature with excellent contrast. At this point in the war, the Finnmark region was being heavily reinforced by sea and air by the Soviets and British in support of their Norwegian allies, while German ground forces were retreating from Finland. File holes, else very good.
