ADOLF HITLER
(1889 - 1945) Fuhrer of Germany and Nazi Party leader, Hitler's bloody rise to power, his military seizure of most of Europe and North Africa and his genocidal racial policies culminated in suicide in his Berlin bunker as Russian troops approached. Fine typed D.S. 1p. legal 4to., Fuhrerehauptquartier, Nov. 16, 1942, a promotion of three important military men co-signed by RUDOLF SCHMUNDT (1896-1944), an officer in the German army who was involved in the plot to assassinate Hitler. Ironically, he died of complications resulting from injury during the attempt! In this document, the following individuals are promoted: BAPTISTE KNIESS (1885-1956), who in this document is made commander of the LXVI Corps, and promoted to General of Infantry nineteen days later; LOTHAR RENDULIC (1887 - 1971) German general, led infantry behind the Panzer groups in France, led a division south of Moscow, fought partisans in the Baltics and in the final defense of Berlin. Awarded the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves. Rendulic herein is named Chief of Staff in the XVII Army corps; ERNST DEHNER (1889-1970) a career soldier in the LXXXIII Armeekorps which occupied the triangle Dunkerque, Montreuil, Aire-sur-la-Lys, where its headquarters was located. Herein he is promoted to General of the Infantry of the LXXXII Army Corps; and ERNST VON LEYSER (1889-1962), a career solder promoted here to Commander of the Panzertroops in the XXVI Corps. Additionally, this important document promoted WILLI MOSER (1887-1946), winner of a Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross winner as well the German Cross in Gold, died in prison in 1946. Here, Hitler promotes him to General of Artillery in the LXXI corps. A central fold, otherwise very good condition.
