Description:

(1889 - 1945) Fuhrer of Germany and Nazi Party leader, Hitler's bloody rise to power, his military seizure of most of Europe and North Africa and his genocidal racial policies culminated in suicide in his Berlin bunker as Russian troops approached. ONE OF ONLY TWO APPOINTMENTS EVER MADE OF A "REICHSPROTEKTOR" Historically important and exceptionally rare partly-printed signed document in which Hitler appoints his long-time political ally and Minister of the Interior WILHELM FRICK to serve as as "Reichsprotektor in Bohmen und Mahren" ("Reichsprotector for Bohemia and Moravia"), a position he would use to slaughter Czechs attempting to liberate their country. The 9 3/4" x 13 3/4" document, typed in a large font typical of documents presented to Hitler, is issued at "Fuhrer Headquarters" on August 20, 1943. Hitler has placed his blue ink signature at the bottom of the text, and the document is counter-signed by HANS LAMMERS (1879-1962), Minister and Chief of the Reich Chancellery. Fine condition, with gilt eagle at top, bling-embossed seal at bottom, with original folder and retaining cord. At the eve of Wilhelm Frick's tenure, on August 20, 1943, the German State Ministry for Bohemia and Moravia was created. It was headed by Karl Frank, who commanded the Nazi police apparatus in the Protectorate, including the Gestapo, the SD, and the Kripo. In Prague itself, Frick used ruthless methods to counter dissent. That city was one of the last Axis-held cities to fall at the end of World War II. The only Reichsprotektors appointed by Hitler were Frick and Constantin von Neurath, both for Bohemia and Moravia. Reinhard Heydrich and Kurt Daluege were appointed as Acting Reichsprotektors.
