Description:

620. ADOLF HITLER AND BEER HALL PUTSCH DEFENDANTS Very rare gathering of the signatures of Hitler and five of his co-conspirators involved in the "Beer Hall Putsch" of November 8-9, 1923, all boldly written in pencil on the verso of a 5 1/4" x 3 1/2" postcard photograph of fellow conspirator Gen. Erich Ludendorff. At top right the card is dated Mar. 28, 1925 in an unknown hand, just a few months after Hitler was released from Landsberg Prison. Of course, it was at Landsberg that Hitler wrote his political manifesto, Mein Kampf. This card, likely signed at a meeting or reunion of the ex-prisoners, is signed in order by: [Albrecht?], ADOLF HITLER, GEN. ERICH LUDENDORFF (1865-1937) German Army officer, Quartermaster General during World War I, victor of Liege, and, with Paul von Hindenburg, one of the victors of the battle of Tannenberg, acquitted, [unidentified], ERNST ROHM (1887-1934) military officer, and the commander and co-founder of the Nazi Sturmabteilung, or storm troopers - the SA, HERMANN KRIEBEL (1876-1941) retired lieutenant colonel and co-leader with Hitler of the Freicorps former Bavarian staff officer. He had fought with the Freikorps during the putsch; and WILHELM BRUECKNER (1884-1954) leader of the Munich SA Regiment and later a Hitler confidante, who ends his signature with a swastika. A very rare, early grouping of the founders of the Nazi Party. $8,000 - 10,000
