Description:

ADOLF EICHMANN
(1906 - 1962) Nazi military officer charged by Hitler with the destruction of the Jewish race, present at the Wannsee Conference where the 'Final Solution' was formulated, and generally oversaw the operation of the death camps. Captured and smuggled to Israel, he was convicted of war crimes and hanged. Superb content partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4to., Berlin, July 17, 1938, an SS-issued document: 'Experience of Political History and Attitudes', filled out and signed by Eichmann in which he answers questions about his past involvement in organizations, both Nazi-affiliated and otherwise. His Nazi Party I.D. number '889,895', the date he joined the SS 'March 1, 1934', and his current rank within the SD Main Office are all indicated. The future murderer and war criminal boldly signs following his certification: 'I hereby declare that I stand uncompromisingly on the basis of the National Socialist conception of the state, and that I have not acted in a way that is hostile to the people...' File holes at the left margin and minor creasing. It was common for officers in the SS to fill out forms such as this prior to receiving promotions in order to reaffirm their commitment to Adolf Hitler and the Reich. At the time, Eichmann had just been promoted to the rank of SS-Obersturmfuhrer. Soon after this he was appointed to the Central Agency for Jewish Emigration in Vienna whose objective was to removed Jews from Austria and relocate them elsewhere...which of course eventually led to their deaths.
