Description:

(ADELAIDE HALL)
(1895-1993) Black American entertainer, singer, actress and a pioneer of her time, Hall is best remembered for her appearance in the 1928 production Blackbirds. She also performed with popular acts such as Duke Ellington, and achieved enormous popularity - second only to Josephine Baker - in African-American obsessed France. A very rare pair of real photo postcards from 1925, 3 1/2" x 5 1/4" sepia published by Almberg & Preinitz of Stockholm. In the first Hall poses in a sultry bejeweled bra and grass leaf skirt with a curly blonde wig, while in the second she wears a more subdued fur coat. Not postally used, a bit of toning and a couple of negligible smudges, very good condition.
