ABRAHAM LINCOLN
(1809-1865) Sixteenth President of the United States who led the Union through the Civil War and emancipated the slaves, assassinated. Partly-printed D.S. "Abraham Lincoln" as President, 1p. folio parchment, Washington, Dec. 26, 1861, the appointment of John F. Price to serve as "First Lieutenant in the Fifth Regiment of Infantry". Signed by Lincoln at bottom, co-signed by Secretary of War EDWIN M. STANTON and by Brigadier Gen. LORENZO THOMAS at top. Lincoln's signature just a bit light, wrinkled, with some toning at folds and soiled, still quite good.
