Description:

ABRAHAM LINCOLN PETERSON HOUSE WALLPAPER RELIC
A rare Lincoln assassination relic, a small swath of original wallpaper from the room in the Petersen House where Lincoln died. The swath measures approx 0.75 x 1 in., and was obtained by the original owner's great-great grandmother, who collected it between 1900-1932 when the house was restored by the National Park Service. Accompanied by a copy of a document from the U. S. Department of the Interior, 1p. 4to., Washington, Oct. 1, 1980, attesting to the wallpaper's authenticity based on forensic evidence. Fine condition. The Peterson House is a historic site forever linked to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. On April 14, 1865, Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth while attending a play at Ford's Theatre. After being carried across the street to the Petersen House, the President succumbed to his wound there the following morning.
