(1726 - 1794) American politician, a New Jersey Signer of the Declaration of Independence and a member of Congress. Superlative A.D.S. signed FOUR TIMES by Clark in which he submits his account for his 'Attendance at Congress' representing the State of New Jersey, 1p. oblong folio, May 18, 1789. The document, entirely in Clark's hand, is headed: 'The State of New Jersey to Abraham Clark'. He then sets forth sums due him for attending Congress from Jan. 7 to 23, 1789 and Jan. 27 to Feb. 9, also setting forth sums received against that per diem statement. Beneath the entries, he writes: 'Abraham Clark being duly sworn deposeth that the above acct. is true. Abra: Clark' The final entry on the page is dated May 28, 1789 when Clark is paid the 20:15:0 pounds balance due, and he writes: 'Rec'd of James Mott Esqr. the above ballance in full Abra: Clark' Thus, Clark has signed in full twice, and with his abbreviated first name another two times. In near fine condition, expertly inlaid.
