Lot of six items signed by prominent American abolitionists and preachers, includes: HENRY WARD BEECHER, A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., Brooklyn, July 17, 1864, allowing his correspondent to reprint any of his writing; with a cut signature of Beecher; WENDELL PHILLIPS A.Q.S. 1882: Trade, law, learning, science and religion are only the scaffolding wherewith to build a nation", mounted, stained at margins; WILLIAM LLOYD GARRISON, A.Q.S., London, Aug. 1, 1867 (anniversary of the British West Indies emancipation): "Liberty for each, for all, and for ever!", toned spots away from signature; and NEAL DOW, signature on a small sheet, Portland, 1867. Overall very good.
