Description:

A FRENCH RESISTANCE FIGHTER RECOUNTS BEING HELD AT RAVENSBRUCK
Fine content contemporary account of her incarceration at Ravensbruck by French woman and resistance fighter, Renee Curtenat, born in 1911 at La Bridoire. Curtenat pens a letter to a British officer, 2pp. 4to., Lyon, Apr. 15, 1947, in French, recounting her imprisonment at the notorious concentration camp. In small part: "...I left the camp one month after my arrival and happily because it was truly the camp of the dead...electric fences 7 or 8 meters tall and crematoria operating day and night. I was part of a forced labor group...in the mountains south-west, where we were 1,800 deportees, French, Russians, Polish, Hungarians...working in the mines...The commandant of the camp, surnamed 'Attila', was half-crazy - he was fierce with us - he beat the women...he made us [collect?] the snow in the camp with our hands...". She signs at conclusion, adding "Agent P.2. of the network 'Action'" Fine.
