Description:

A BOOK FROM THE DOOMED USS SEAWOLF
A fascinating relic, a volume of Walter D. Edmond's classic historical novel, Drums along the Mohawk (Boston: Little Brown & Company, 1939), 592pp. bound in titled blue cloth boards. The inside cover pastedown and flyleaf each bear the ownership stamp of "U.S.S. SEAWOLF". This copy was left by a crewman in Brisbane, Australia while the submarine was in for refueling in September 1944. The U.S.S. Seawolf departed Brisbane on September 21, 1944 and was never heard from again. During its service in the Second World War, the Seawolf earned thirteen battle stars and ranked 14th among American subs for confirmed tonnage sunk (17,609 tons) and tied for seventh place for confirmed ships sunk. Book bears the signs of heavy use, with a loose spine, loose pages and binding. Overall very good condition.
