Description:

2ND DIVISION RANGERS / 2ND INFANTRY DIVISION TUNIC
An especially rare World War II tunic, a wool U.S. Army tunic proudly worn by a member of the 2nd Ranger Division and the 2nd Infantry Division, twice wounded with a Purple Heart, a C.I.B., Croix de Guerre lanyard, and other impressive insignia. This regulation Eisenhower jacket with Eisner manufacturing label bears a 1st U.S. Army patch on the right shoulder, and a 2nd Infantry Division on the left shoulder. Both sleeves bear a private's stripe, and the right sleeve has an incredibly rare 2nd Division Rangers circular skull patch, Fort Sam Houston type sewn near the cuff. The left sleeve terminates with two years of overseas service stripes and a three-year Army service stripe. This unknown soldier's ribbon bars and medals are impressive: his medals include a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Good Conduct Medal. His ribbon bar includes a French Croix de Guerre ribbon with Palm, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign with two Stars and Arrowhead, and lesser ribbons. A French Croix de Guerre lanyard is present, as well as a Presidential Unit Citation ribbon with Oak Leaf, Combat Infantry Badge, Honorable Discharge patch, D.U.I. pins, and Infantryman and U.S. collar discs. The D.U.I. corresponds with the 383rd Military Police, a position this soldier likely held in the postwar years.
