Photograph portfolio filled with 111 pages of commercial images from the 1936 Berlin Olympics, titled ‘Der Wiederwecter der Olympischen Spiele: Baron Coubertin' (‘The Revival of the Olympic Games: Baron Coubertin'). Images depict: the lighting of the torch; a massive crowd waiting for entrance; views from the Brandenburg Gate; tourists conversing with locals; dancing; Youth Rally; Hitler arriving at the stadium; marching; excellent actions shots of various athletes, such as fencers, runners, disc throwers, equestrians, sailors, pole vaulters, polo players, gymnasts, swimmers, etc.; a large board bearing a quote from Pierre De Coubertin; and German Olympic champions meeting with Hitler. Regrettable spotting to some of the pages and tears to the edges of the folder. Overall, quite good. PIERRE DE COUBERTIN (1863 - 1937) was a French educator and historian, founder of the International Olympic Committee and its second President. He is known as the father of the modern Olympic Games.
