Description:

13TH MAINE VOLS. COMPANY PERSONNEL DISPLAY
Union soldier's colorful printed record of personnel and officers of his company, Co. 'C' of the 13th Maine Vols. The hand-colored poster measures 16.75 x 21.5 and list regimental and company officers, musicians, wagoner, all privates, and those who were transferred out of the company. These list appear at the center, surrounded by images of soldiers leaving home to serve, at leisure in camp, and heavily engaged in battle. The poster bears some significant tears at left, some 4-5 inches long but lost among the images, matted and set into a period wood frame. A nice decorative piece. The 13th Maine manned the forts guarding the Mississippi Delta, invaded Texas at the Rio Grande and along the coast, fought in Banks' ill-fated Red River Campaign in Louisiana, manned Washington, DC defenses, and provided rear-area security for the Shenandoah Valley campaign in 1864 south of Harpers Ferry.
