Description:

Scarce U.S. Army khaki uniform belonging to African-American Corporal BRENT LEE B. WILSON of the 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment (nicknamed the 'Rock Regiment') of the 11th Airborne Division. The garment is custom tailored, similar to the 1924 Pattern with scant manufacturing differences. The shirt has the old Army 'seven creases' ironed in - correct for the period in which it was worn. The upper left sleeve bears the shield-shaped insignia of the 11th Airborne Division, while the left breast bears an affixed parachutist badge, attached atop a sewn-on red backing. The lower-right section of the chest bears some odd ink-stamped numerals, with some tiny scattered ink stains throughout, else fine. This lot is sold with numerous other items owned by WIlson, including: his pair of dog tags; 15 original b/w photographs, many backstamped with the year '1952', showing Wilson wearing the khaki uniform, with 13 film photonegatives; his 'certificate of service' card; a khaki tie and belt; a plastic black name tag with white impressed 'WILSON' at center; his Army issue fork; an brass razor in case; a slide ruler in leather case; and six plastic buttons. From a major private collection on public display.

Shipping

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
