(d. 2007) American Brigadier General, served with a combat engineer group in Korea in 1954, commanded a battalion of the 101st Airborne Division and was the deputy brigade commander of the division's 2nd Brigade. Served in the Vietnam War as the division support commander and acting chief of staff for the 9th Infantry, later served with the State Department's Bureau of Political Military Affairs, the Defense Department and the Joint Chiefs of Staff as chief of policy and plans for the Far East-South Asia. Buried in Arlington National Cemetery. His US Army, 1938 Pattern, White Mess Uniform, dated January 1970, bearing a slip-on epaulette for Officer status on each shoulder. They are black backed, and the buttons of each epaulette is of the correct screw on style, and of the one-piece face type. The balance of the buttons all appear matching, are of the two-piece face type, and are of the proper removable type. The two small front closure buttons are present and still connected to a gold color chain, also of the proper size and are of the one-piece face type. There is evidence of a miniature ribbon bar having been once pinned to the left lapel, and of a breast badge once having been pinned to the chest. Each lower sleeve has the white color braid for a General Officer, and above the sleeve braid is a sewn on white color, General's embroidered star insignia for a Brigadier General. The inside of the jacket is fully lined in white color satin/artifical silk, and sewn below one of the inside pockets is a white tailor's label with bright gold lettering, reading: 'Hand Tailor, Sang Woo, Tailoring, 226 Choi Hung Road, 5/F, San Po Kong, KLN, Hong Kong'. A second tailor's label, found sewn below another inside pocket, is of the bevo style and reads: 'Specially Made For Mr. A.P. Hanket, Order No. SA 300835'. Fine condition throughout. Sold with his matching black color trousers of the civilian pattern, with black color side stripes rather than the regulation twin gold color stripes. Sewn inside the trousers is a tailor's tag for the same tailor who made the jacket, bearing the name and date: 'A.P. Hanket...1-[19]70'. Sold with four pages of biographical information, and a nice photo of Brigadier General Hanket in his Army Green Uniform. From a prominent private collection on public display.

Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
