Description:

101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION ‘IKE' JACKET
U.S. M1944 ‘Ike' uniform jacket, displaying the embroidered felt ‘Screaming Eagle' insignia patches of the famous 101st Airborne Division on the left-hand shoulder, this example being a ‘Type 1' variant with white cross-stitching around the edges. Embroidered felt Technical Sergeant's rank chevrons appear on both sleeves. The left-hand cuff additionally bears an embroidered wool patch with six deployment bars, over a second patch with two additional diagonal deployment stripes. The left-hand breast bears two ribbon bars above the patch pocket, those of the U.S. Army Good Conduct Medal and the American Defense Service Medal, and an embroidered ‘ruptured duck' honorable discharge patch is sewn above the right-hand pocket. The collar disks are absent. The jacket is lined with khaki cotton twill, and the right-hand interior lining pocket contains a Philadelphia Quartermaster's Depot label identifying the manufacturer as J. Citrano & Sons, giving a pattern date of May, 1944 and the size ‘38L'. The lining shows a few rust stains and some additional minor wear and soiling, otherwise in very good to fine condition overall.
