YURI GAGARIN
(1934 - 1968) Russian cosmonaut, the first man in space who died tragically in a routine training flight. A.L.S. signed twice 1p. 4to., Feb. 19, 1963, to NIKOLAI KAMANIN(1908-1982), Hero of the Soviet Union and head of the first space training program who endorses the letter at top. In part: "...I'm asking your permission to reduce the numbers of night parachute jumps for V.[aleri] Bykovsky...". Kaminin approves at top in red grease pencil: "Cancel Kamanin 20/02.63". Valeri Bykovsky was the first Jewish cosmonaut in space and the fifth in the Vostok program. Bottom margin a bit rough, otherwise boldly penned and in fine condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
