A good group of pieces by World War II leaders, includes: MITSUO FUCHIDA, a copy of the U.S. War Department's Declaration of War on Japan, 1p. 4to., boldly signed at conclusion; MATTHEW B. RIDGWAY, A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Aug. 12, 1969, remarking: "Without question the parachute drop into Normandy about 2:10AM on D-Day was the most memorable of my World War II experiences..."; CLAIRE L. CHENNAULT, T.L.S. on Headquarters of the Fourteenth Air Force letterhead, 1p. 4to., Oct. 23, 1944, to a gentleman sending thanks for his "cheerful message", with original envelope bearing censor mark; and CHESTER W. NIMITZ, T.L.S. on his Commander in Chief U.S. Pacific Fleet letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Feb. 23, 1945, to a young Naval cadet, thanking him for a letter and enclosing a propaganda bill dropped by planes over Japan which, sadly, is not present. With original envelope. Four pieces, very good condition.
