1256. WORLD WAR I GERMAN P.O.W. GUARD'S MATCHSAFE A neat World War I relic, a brass matchsafe, 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 1/2" with original matchbox and matches within. The brass case bearing the ornately engraved name of the soldier's unit "108 P.O.W. Coy. Puchvilliers Bapaume 1918-19" inscribed on one side, with an engraved Iron Cross, laurel leaves, two horseshoes and the soldier's name "J. Muller" on verso. A nice example of World War I "trench art". $150 - 200
