Description:

WOODY GUTHRIE
(1912 - 1967) American song writer and musician considered the "Father of American Folk music", best known for his masterpiece "This Land Is Your Land." Typed D.S. signed twice, 4pp. 4to., New York, [n.d. but ca. 1946], in which Guthrie signs over the rights to his song "Build a House" to the recording label People's Songs, Inc. People's Songs was an organization formed by Pete Seeger in 1945 to distribute American folk music. "Build a House" was never released by Guthrie, and instead surfaced later as a "Bling-Blang", sung by his son Arlo. Light toning, otherwise very good.
