WOLF HEINRICH VON HELLDORF
(1896 - 1944) Berlin prefect of police instrumental in the okundering of Jewish businesses and homes during Kristallnacht. Implicated in the July 20 bomb plot against Hitler, he was in Berlin to assist Stauffenberg's coup attempt. The same day, he was arrested by the Gestapo and hanged shortly thereafter. Rare, fine association T.L.S. on Der Polizei-Prasident letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Apr. 10, 1937 to Hermann Goring, in German. Von Helldorf discusses the "Rowak accounts" stating that he had made payment of 872.10 RM and would remit the balance shortly. Files holes at left, docketed at top, else very good. "Rowak" was entity through which the German-Spanish trade accounts were facilitated, handling all non-military trade and developing Spain's fledgling mining and agricultural industries, principally to supply the Third Reich with vital raw materials for its economy and war machine .
