WINSTON CHURCHILL PRESENTATION CIGAR LABEL
An item entirely synonymous with Churchill, a 2 1/2" x 1" cigar band from a Cuban "La Corona" cigar made especially for Churchill and bearing his name thereon, as well as the attendant tax label. The red, white and gold label is affixed to a 4" x 5" sheet with typed description: "Band from cigar presented by WINSTON CHURCHILL at luncheon held at 10 Downing Street, Wednesday, July 16, 1941 Guests: Maj. Gen Sir Hastings Ismay, The Rt. Hon. David Margesson, Sir Ronald Campbell, and Merrill C. Meigs". From the estate of Merrill C. Meigs (1883-1968) Chicago newspaper man and pilot who taught Harry Truman how to fly, and for whom Meigs Field in Chicago was named. At the time, Meigs was in London arranging vital aircraft sales to the R.A.F. Only the day before, a major British offensive began, Operation Battleaxe, an determined effort to relieve Tobruk.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
