WILLIAM ROTHENSTEIN
(1872-1945) English painter and art critic, a friend of Whistler, Degas and others of his time as well as inspiration for future artists such as Jacob Epstein. A trio of T.Ls.S. signed with initials "W.R.", each 1p. 4to., London, Mar. 18, 27 and April 8, 1930 to English novelist Arnold Bennett thanking him for his help in preparing Rothenstein's Recollections for publication. In part: "...When you say I write too well for a painter you fail to realise how much rewriting I have had to do. I cannot put down a simple sentence or express myself clearly at once...". With one holograph emendation to the March 27 letter: "I know few people generous enough to do this...". Very good condition, three pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
