WILLIAM H. TAFT
(1857 - 1930) Twenty-seventh President of the United States and Supreme Court Chief Justice. S.P. 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" sepia, a classic head and shoulders portrait by Vaughan and Keith of San Francisco, signed at top right. Mounted, light crack at top margin, very good. With a T.L.S. 1p. 4to., Pointe-a-Pic, Canada, July 27, 1921. Taft writes on his personal letterhead to Charles H. Flach, in part: "...Thank you for your kind congratulations upon my appointment to be Chief Justice. I remember well when you were President of the Lincoln Club, and Mrs. Taft and I were honored by a reception...on the occasion of my appointment as Solicitor-General...". Toned margins, dampstained and spotted at margins, just good. Two pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
