(1924-2007) Soviet lawyer, diplomat, head of the KGB, member of the Politburo. Also was a key organizer of the anti-Gorbachev coup in 1991. Great espionage content D.S. as Deputy Chairman of the KGB on KGB letterhead, 1p. 4to., Moscow, Aug. 4, 1986, addressed to the Minister of Foreign Trade about a recent KGB operation, regarding the import of embargoed technology into the Soviet Union. In part: '...The Committee of State Security of the USSR (KGB) completed the extraction and delivery...of a product of a strict embargo on the instructions of the Commission of the Council of Ministers...on new technology...carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and directly with 'Sudoimport', which provided commercial cover for the extraction and delivery channel of the sample...' Kryuchkov signs at the conclusion in blue ink. Trimmed at left, some loss at upper-right, else fine condition. -
