VICTORIA, ALBERT AND THEIR CIRCLE
A wonderful souvenir, a leather-bound autograph book containing approximately 70 clipped signatures and several letters affixed therein, including VICTORIA, followed on the next page by her husband,ALBERT OF SAXE-COBURG AND GOTHA (1819-1861) with his personal wax seal; as well as Victoria's mother, VICTORIA OF SAXE-COBURG-SAALFELD (1786-1861). The book also includes a mourning cover franked by Victoria's son, EDWARD VII as Prince of Wales ("A[lbert] E[dward]"). Other autographs of note include numerous British statesmen including , HENRY JOHN TEMPLE, 3RD VISCOUNT PALMERSTON, A.N.S. 1p. 8vo, [London] Dec. 16, 1859 (with additional signature in other part of the book) JOHN RUSSELL, 1ST EARL RUSSELL (1792-1878), A.N.S. 1p. 8vo., [London, 1862] to Lord Carnarvon. The book also includes signatures of ROBERT PEEL and BENJAMIN DISRAELI. Other statesmen have signed simply with their formal title including,"Portsmouth", "Suffolk", "Amherst", "Effingham", "Everseley", "Stanley", "Stowe", "Ailesbury", "Exeter", "Stafford", "Nelson", "Devonshrie", Stanhope", "Monteagle", "Albermarle", "Powis", "Derby," "Shaftsbury," "Richmond," and many others. Other signatures include the noted author EDWARD BULWAR LYTTON (1803-1873), and an A.L.S. by actress MADGE KENDAL (1848-1935). Also included is the signature of FITZROY SOMERSET, 1ST BARON RAGLAN (1788-1855), signed just prior to his departure to the Crimea. Some of the letters appear to have been addressed to Henry Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon (1831-1890), the father of the noted Egyptologist who backed the expedition that unearthed Tutankhamen's Tomb, George Herbert, 5th Earl of Carnarvon (1866-1923). Binding cracked, binding rubbed, pages overall fairly clean with only light soiling, else very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
