Description:

Pair of pencil drawings on a single 4.75 x 7.5 in. sheet, drawn by one 'C. R. Harris[?]' for a family member. The images include 'Scene in the Army of the Potomac – Taking Supper' ans showing men gathered before a fire and men tents as a sentry patrols. Beneath the soldier adds a drawing of a wrecked railroad bridge with possibly a train in the rubble and a destroyed cannon in the foreground, captioning the piece: 'Ruins of the R.R. Bridge, over Cedar Run on the Orange and Alex. RR near Warrenton Junction, Va." Some marginal chips, mounted to a portion of a period album page. The caption on the latter drawing undoubtedly refers to John Mosby's raid at Catlett's Station on May 30, 1863 where he destroyed a train on the line mentioned and held off Union troops with a single artillery piece. 200-300
