Good lot of three items signed by notable U.S. Navy admirals of World War II, includes: RICHMOND K. TURNER (1885-1961) U.S. Navy admiral who chose not to forward intercepted Japanese communications giving advance warning of the attack on Pearl Harbor to commanders there. Later commander of amphibious operations throughout the Pacific. Signature in blue ink on a 5" x 3" memo sheet, adding his rank 'Admiral, US Navy'. Includes the original transmittal envelope. Very good. HENRY K. HEWITT (1887-1972) U.S. Navy admiral, commanded Allied amphibious forces in landings in North Africa, Sicily, Anzio and southern France. Signature in blue ink on a 5 1/4 x 3 1/4 in. 'United States Naval Forces North West African Waters' card, adding his rank 'Vice Admiral U.S.N.', the date 'March 28, 1945', and a dedication. The original transmittal envelope, bearing his signature again in the return address, is also present. Very good. WITH: DAVID W. BAGLEY (1883-1960) U.S. Navy admiral, commander of Battleship Division 2, consisting of the CALIFORNIA, OKLAHOMA, and TENNESSEE, during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Later Commandant of the Fourteenth Naval District and the Hawaiian Sea Frontier during World War II. A.N.S. on a 4 x 4 3/4 in. stationery card [n.d.], San Francisco, transmitting his autograph. The original transmittal envelope is also present. Signature and inscription slightly soft, else very good. Three pieces.
