KONSTANTIN TSIOLKOVSKY (1857-1935) Pioneering Russian scientist and rocket designer who laid out the basic principles of modern space flight. A superb and very rare association item, Jules Verne's From the Earth to the Moon inscribed and signed by the father of space flight! The book is in Russian, published in Moscow in 1918, with a full-page inscription on the front flyleaf which reads in part: "...To see the difference between a fantasy writer and a scientist you don't have to be too intelligent. Only the brain of a scientist can foresee... ". Re-bound ca. 1925, inscribed in 1929. Very good. $600-800
