(TITANIC) SIGNATURES OF OFFICERS OF THE TITANIC OBTAINED ABOARD THE RESCUE SHIP "CARPATHIA"
Extraordinary group of signatures of the four highest ranking surviving officers of the TITANIC, gathered by physician Dr. Frank Blackmarr aboard the rescue ship CARPATHIA. During the voyage Blackmarr had struck up a friendship with Harold Cottam, the CARPATHIA's radio operator, and Cottam alerted Blackmarr to the collision. Blackmarr realised the significance of the situation and recorded his observations of the ensuing rescue and accounts of the tragedy given to him by survivors. Present are two pages, each about 8 1/2" x 5", hastily used by Blackmarr for notes and for victims to writes their names and addresses. All of the signatures of the TITANIC officers are in pencil, with three on one sheet reading: "J. Groves Boxhall 'Manora' Westbourne Ave Hull England 4th Officer of the late Titanic...C. H. Punch holes to top of one sheet, along with a central horizontal fold, slightly trimmed top edge to second sheet, along with some scattered toning and stray ink marks, otherwise fine condition.
